Alcoholism Treatment for Nervous System Effects
Not drinking and driving is a given but did you know that alcohol abuse can cause damage to your sense of judgment? This article shows just how alcohol affects an individual in the long run. Luckily, if an individual has a problem, they don’t have to live with these consequences. Recognizing the first step of alcoholism treatment means to admit to having a problem. From there, it makes the recovery process more effective and efficient.
Get Treatment for Alcoholism Today
Do you know someone who needs treatment for alcoholism? It can help to have a heart to heart conversation with them and see where they stand with recognizing their behavior. If they are defensive or in denial, it can help to gather a close group of loved ones and stage an intervention. At this point, the addict will be confronted with how their behavior is affecting their loved ones. While no one is forcing them to undergo treatment, it can be a turning point where they recognize that they have a problem.
Addiction Therapy and Aftercare
The truth is that alcohol abuse does not immediately end after addiction therapy. This is why many rehab centers promote aftercare services and therapy. Being sober for the first time (in a long time) can put an individual in a vulnerable position. This means that they need as much support and resources that they can get to ensure their sober living. As you talk to your loved one about getting help, remember to NOT forget about after care process. This could be the breaking point towards their recovery!

Find Help at Addiction Treatment Center
We all know that addicts can get help at an addiction treatment center but what does the public really think? This article by The Guardian shows that people’s perception of addiction and recovery isn’t always positive. Many people lack sympathy for addicts they feel like it was a choice that they took. Many people don’t have a full understanding of the nature of addiction and think that it’s a matter of choice to stop using. There is also a stereotype that addicts are violent, dangerous and unpredictable in behavior.
Support with Addiction Therapy
From methadone clinics to addiction therapy, these resources all provide addicts with the help and support they need to recovery. The government and other coalitions are working to raise awareness of the benefits of treatment and they are also trying hard to decriminalize drug use. Many users have jobs, friends, and family that they want to come back to.
Drug and Alcoholism Treatment Awareness
When the public becomes more educated on the process of drug and alcoholism treatment, it will help addicts and their families heal. It’s hard to see that addicts who are trying hard and willingly working towards sobriety face public criticism. People can change and everyone, including addicts deserve a second chance at happiness – wouldn’t you agree?

Living Sober Depends on Parents
For teens, is it really a surprise that living sober depends on parenting style? A study in the Journal of Studies on Alcohol and Drugs shows just that. Whereas some parents turn a blind eye to teen drinking, other parents are more communicative and hold their teens accountable. The study shows that teens least prone to heavy drinking had parents who knew who their kids were with and had a warm parenting style.
Teens at Risk for Alcoholism Treatments
Meanwhile, it’s no surprise that teens who engaged in heavy drinking had parents who were low on accountability and high on warmth. Strict parents who were not warm also put their teens at risk for heavy drinking. Surely, if parents knew how much their parenting style affected their teen’s behaviors, they would pay more attention. Teens at risk of alcoholism treatment need the care and guidance of their parents, even if they act like they don’t. This is a confusing period of time and it can be difficult for parents to find the right balance between discipline and care.
Addiction Therapy is Serious
Addiction therapy is a serious topic when it comes to teenagers. We would like to all think that teens aren’t exposed to drugs and alcohol, but they are. Prevention via accountability can be a helpful tool but it never hurts for parents to be involved in their child’s life. A parent has the right to be concerned and to communicate with their teen. Parenting styles has a big influence on your teen’s outlook on life, especially at this stage while they are growing and learning new things.

Alcoholics Anonymous and Addiction Treatment
For seventy five years, Alcoholics Anonymous has helped addicts on their journey towards sobriety. This revolutionary method of alcoholism treatment was the innovation of Bill Wilson, better known as Bill W. or just Bill. In the 1930’s, Bill struggled to understand his own battle with alcoholism as he was committed for four times to unsuccessful treatment. After facing this frustration, Bill set out to come up with a more effective and compassionate way to deal with addiction. AA and its sister 12-step programs have been subject of much speculation over the years. But there is no way to deny that it has helped many addicts transform their life for the better.
Addiction Treatment Support
This method of addiction treatment integrates the idea of spiritual understanding. Like many other programs, it can help recovering addicts to establish a connection, whether it is religious or spiritual. This is just another form of support that will help in their time of need. Along with support from peers, friends and family, this is the best way for a newly sober addict to transition back into their normal lifestyle again.
75 Years of Drug Addiction Treatment
What type of drug addiction treatment is best? This answer of course, depends on the individual and the substances that they are abusing. Whether it is rehab or a 12 step program, AA’s success depends on its strong community of support. Many attendees and veteran recoverees speak about an unexplainable feeling that AA gives them. Even if they are unsure why, the end result is that they feel stronger in their commitment to stay sober. This is only the first step and it gets easier with time. There is no doubt that AA has provided a safe environment and helped many addicts during its seventy five year existence.

One Addiction Treatment Plan That Doesn’t Add Up
San Francisco has a lot on their hands after criminalist, Deborah Madden has been under some investigation of her own. The long-time former lab technician has admitted to police that she had stolen cocaine in the past to help get over her drinking problems. Trading one addiction in for another? What kind of addiction treatment plan is that?!
Facing Lab Closure after Addiction Therapy
Along with her bizarre idea of addiction therapy, Deborah also has a criminal past. In 2008, she was convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence in 2008. She kept this fact hidden from prosecutors in court. This isn’t all that is wrong as Deborah has led investigators to believe that other workers have behaved improperly while on duty. Great! Now, it looks like the city has a lot of troubles to deal with as they are looking to dismiss over 700 drug cases as police decide to shut down the lab.
Alcoholism Treatment and Lessons Learned
After more analysis, authorities have found over one hundred police employees who have had a history of misconduct. Great! Imagine if there were 100+ cases like Deborah! Lesson learned: alcoholism treatment should not consist of using cocaine AND the city needs to be more aware of what’s happening in their labs. After this embarrassing and messy case, let’s hope the SF Police Department learned their lesson.
